Sto:Ri Theatre Company - 'The Butterfly Princess'
Fellow graduates of Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama, Stefanie Sommer and Alexander Luttley have a wealth of experience, training and skills between them. From dance and movement to music and voice, the two have been developing as artists internationally for the last five years, and have now rejoined to form Sto:Ri, a young audience theatre company that holds at its heart the belief that childrens' imaginations should be embraced and encouraged.
Sto:Ri specialise in original, devised and multi-disciplinary storytelling that places an emphasis on immersive tales and audience involvement.
Sto:Ri believes that young audiences are far too often told to sit still, keep quiet and listen, and that the boundless imagination of children is something to be harnessed and embraced. By allowing involvement in the stories, Sto:Ri are giving the young audiences the freedom to join in and express themselves, to be creative, problem solve and to think outside the box. Young audiences are involved in deciding ‘What’s next?’ in the stories, in designing and building the set and costumes and in helping create the individual worlds of each Sto:Ri tale.
'The Butterfly Princess'
A tale about a young girl's adventure to find the butterflies of her dream. Along the way she encounters a colourful cast of characters, all the while accompanied by her good friend the caterpillar and some original songs and singalongs. In order to get to her destination, she's going to need help from everyone, including you - the audience!! Setting up for the garden party, building paper boats, colouring and dancing are just a few things you'll encounter in this interactive performance for all ages.
