"One grey dark morning Lady Grey's monotonous life gets thrown into imbalance with the arrival of a mysterious envelope... Is trouble brewing or could this be the moment she's been dreaming of?"
This piece was first developed during Pi the Mime's Cabaret workshop and first performed at The Vaults in Waterloo. Since then it has been performed at a variety of cabaret venues around London.
It is a clownesque absurd piece about a woman who feels uncomfortable in her skin and only sees the misery around her. She starts out as a frustrated, pessimistic and angry woman, who specifically hates round teabags, but unfortunately keeps finding them everywhere around her. One day however she receives a letter containing a square teabag, that she falls madly in love with. With this newfound feeling of love and caring, she starts to seduce her newfound love and learns to appreciate and accept her body in the process of it.
This piece explores how finding something or someone to love in our life can really change our perspective and gives us a chance to also love ourselves fully and find joy in our non-perfections.
Once scepticism and self-loathing are cast aside, we are able to trust again and to find our playful side - unravelling ourselves from this tight saftey corset we created as a protective layer.
